UK Financial Crisis: PM Truss Calls On Emergency Meeting Days After Financial Market Chaos

Days after the financial market chaos in UK, PM Liz Truss is scheduled to hold an emergency meeting with finance minister Kwasi Kwarteng and Chairman of the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) Richard Hughes. According to the UK’s Treasury, the trio will discuss the budget forecast process and economic and fiscal developments since March. Meanwhile, Kwarteng has asked the OBR to submit first draft of economic forecasts on October 7.

Britain's Meteorological Department office issued a level 4 'Red Alert' to various parts of England, due to extreme heat. According to the weather forecast, Britain is expected to witness record-breaking high temperatures across the country. In the urban areas, the nights are also expected to be exceptionally warm. As of now, Britain's highest temperature of 38.7°C was recorded on July 25, 2019 in Cambridge University Botanical garden.

Britain Gets Its First Smart Prisons, Details Explained

Britain gets its first smart prison with no bars on windows which was opened on March 4. UK's Department of Justice (DoJ) added this to be the first jail in the country to drive down crime and lead the offenders into training for jobs. The jail has a capacity to hold 1700 prisoners which will include a gym, table tennis, snooker table and a computer tablet.

Britain Records 42,408 Fresh Covid-19 Cases; Death Rate Drops By 4.4%

Britain reported 42,408 fresh Covid-19 cases, and 195 deaths due to the virus, taking its total death tally to 142,533 on November 11. Furthermore, the death rate decreased by 4.4%, while the infection rate fell by 12% in the past one week. However, over 8,000 patients were reported to be admitted to the hospital, at present. Besides, 79% of people aged 12 and more have been fully vaccinated.
