Chirag Shetty, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy Loose In Semifinals Of BWF World Championships, Receive Bronze Medal

Malaysian team of Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik defeated Indian pair of Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy in the quarterfinal of the men's doubles event at BWF World Championships 2022 on August 27. Despite the defeat, the pair will return home with a bronze medal, becoming the first Indian men's pair to achieve so in the Championships. The duo lost the match with scores of 22-20, 18-21, and 16-21.

India's Lovepreet Singh Wins Bronze Medal At Commonwealth Games 2022

At Commonwealth Games 2022, India's Lovepreet Singh won a bronze medal by lifting a total of 355kg – 163kg in snatch, and 192 kg in clean and jerk. On August 3, Singh won against Australia’s Jackson Roberts-Young who went for 211kgs lift in his third and final attempt, which was unsuccessful. With this, the Indian contingent at CWG 22, confirmed13 medals, including five gold, four silver and four bronze.

India So Far Won Seven Medals In Tokyo Paralympics 2020

At the Tokyo Paralympics, a throw of 64.35 meters earned the 40-year-old Devendra Jhajharia, India's greatest Paralympian, a silver medal, and Sundar Singh Gurjar bronze medal in the men's javelin throw of 64.01 meters final event on August 30. India now has seven medals from the Paralympics 2020 Games. Ajeet Singh, the only third Indian javelin thrower in the final finished in eighth place.

Tokyo Olympics: Wrestler Bajrang Punia Wins Historic Bronze For India

Indian Wrestler Bajrang Punia defeated Daulet Niyazbekov of Kazakhstan 8:0 to clinch the bronze medal for India and equal India's best Olympic performance to the 2012 London Olympics. After dominating the entire game against reigning World silver medalist Niyazbekov, Punia impressed with a stunning 8-0 win. The former Asian Games gold medalist lost his semi-final on August 7. This is the fourth bronze for India.
