Limit BSF Within 50 Kms, Mamata Banerjee To Cooch Behar Police

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee asked Cooch Behar police to restrict Border Security Force (BSF) beyond 50 km from the international border. On April 27, Banerjee said, "they are entering the village, killing people and throwing them on the other side". She further asked the BSF to take local police in confidence while on any operation. Notably, WB and Central Government are in a fight over the BSF act.

BSF Officer Shot Himself Dead In Tripura Headquarters, Case Registered

In Tripura's Dhalai district, a BSF officer allegedly shot himself dead outside his battalion headquarters in the Jawaharnagar area, confirmed BSF. Posted at MK Para border, the deceased was a native of Rajasthan. The reason behind the suicide is yet to be known and a case has been registered. Meanwhile, the body has been sent for postmortem and a detailed investigation has been launched.

BSF Reports Pakistani Drone In Punjab's Gurdaspur Region

The Border Security Force (BSF) Battalion 89, sighted a drone near Gurdaspur region of Punjab, on April 7.  As per ANI, the Battalion saw the drone around 1:30 pm, and threw light bombs and conducted 16 fires, following which the drone allegedly returned back to Pakistan. In addition,  Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Prabhakar Joshi reached the site and launched a scrutiny operation.

193 Battalion BSF Recovers Ammunition In Meghalaya

In Meghalaya's South West Khasi Hills, the BSF recovered ammunitions, covered in white sack. It contained 92 rounds of 5.56 mm, 129 rounds of 7.62 mm, 160 rounds of 9mm.  Notably, the cache of ammunitions were used for illegal activities and extortion purposes. As per ANI, the search was based on tip-off, following which the BSF and Meghalaya police launched a search operation. An FIR has been lodged for investigation.

2 Drug Peddlers Held By BSF With Rs 6.52 Crore Yaba Tablets: Mizoram

In Mizoram's Kolasib district, the Border Security Force have detained two drugs peddlers including Mynamar national with Rs 6.52 crore of contraband drugs on February 11. The accused has been identified as Samir Dev (49), and Solomon (36). The BSF seized 1,30,492 Yaba tablets weighing about 12.8 kg. On the specific input by BSF, 38 battalions of BSF and Excise and Narcotics department arrested two people in a joint operation.

The Narcotics Control Bureau Kolkata has retrieved 6 kg Ganja and 3,375 phensedyl bottles on February 8. The accused has been held by the police and has been identified as Krishnapada Paul, a resident of Bagdah. On the specific input by Border Security Force, Krishnanagar, NCB seized 3,375 phensedyl bottles, 6 kg Ganja, two cars, Rs 85,671 cash, and one American dollar from Paul.

BSF And SOG Seize 14 Kg Heroin Worth Rs 35 Crore In Rajasthan

In Rajasthan's Barmer district Border Security Force and the Special Operation Group seized 14 kg heroin worth Rs 35 crore in a joint operation. "A joint operation was carried out by BSF, SOG, and Barmer Police, in which 14Kg Heroin has been recovered," PRO of BSF Gujarat Frontier said. The international market value of the recovered heroin is Rs 35 crore. Moreover, further details are awaited.
