BTS disclosed they will be taking a break to focus on their individual careers, with a number of separate projects in development on June 14 at BTS' Festa dinner, which is part of a yearly commemoration of their formation. The band expressed regret for disappointing their "BTS Army" and acknowledged the choice was difficult to make. "It's not like we're disbanding!" said band member Suga, attempting to defuse the situation.  

At the Billboard Music Awards 2022, the BTS band made history yet again. The band beat their own record for most nominations in a single year. After collecting three awards during the event, the band set a new record. BTS has now won a total of 12 awards, making them the only group to do it. Destiny's Child set a record 17 years ago with 11 victories. 

BTS (K-pop band) army's member Jungkook, on January 2, broke social media records. His  post of 2022 on Instagram, with his dog lying on floor, gained millions of like in minutes. The K-pop singer broke Guinness World Record of Brazil's Juilett Friere, who got 1 million likes in three minutes. However, Jungkook got over one million likes in just two minutes. 

BTS and Ed Sheeran were the top winners at the 2021 MTV European Music Awards, which took place on November 15. BTS took the maximum awards, including Best Pop, Best Group, Best K-Pop, and Biggest Fans, but were unable to accept them since they were not there. For "Bad Habits," Sheeran was named Best Artist and Best Song. Nicki Minaj, and Olivia Rodrigo were among the other few artists to be awarded.
