Karnataka Monsoon Session To Begin From Sep 12, Announces Cabinet
The Karnataka cabinet announced to convene the monsoon session of the state legislature from September 12. The Cabinet meeting held on August 25, suggested the session be for 10 working days, to discuss issues and bills in the State. Briefing about the cabinet decisions, the Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister JC Madhuswamy said, the session will be held at Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru, except on Saturdays and Sundays.

BJP Reportedly Offers Raj Thackeray's Son Position In Maharashtra Cabinet
The Bharatiya Janata Party has allegedly offered MNS head Raj Thackeray's son Amit Thackeray a position in the Maharashtra Cabinet. Amit Thackeray is not a member of the MLC or MLA. The reported move comes only weeks after Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde launched a coup that brought Uddhav Thackeray's cabinet down. The BJP seeks to put Amit Thackeray alongside Aaditya to attract the state's youth.

Bhagwant Mann To Expand His Cabinet By Recruiting 5-6 New Ministers
Punjab government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, is preparing to restructure its first cabinet. The cabinet development follows bypoll outcomes and the criminal prosecution of one of the Bhagwant Mann ministry's main ministers. The new ministers' names have not been announced. 5 to 6 new ministers, including a female MLA, are expected to take the oath of office on July 4. Pak President Administers Oath To 3 Federal Members & 1 Minister Of State
Three new federal members and one minister of State for Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, took oath, on April 22. The oath ceremony was administered by President Arif Alvi, and took place at the Aiwan-i-Sadr in Islamabad. Reportedly, PM Sharif was seated next to the president, in the ceremony. Chaudhary Salik Hussain, Agha Hassan Baloch, Javed Latif and Hashim Notezai were the new inductees.

Manipur Cabinet Expansion: 6 New Ministers Added To Biren Singh's Govt
One month after BJP returned to power in the state of Manipur, the cabinet strength has been expanded to 12 members, with the addition of six new members from BJP, on April 16. Governor of the state La Ganeshan administered the oath ceremony of the new ministers. Out of the 12 total cabinet members, 10 are from BJP and two from Naga People's Font (NPF).

ICMR Director General's Tenure Extended By 3 Months
The ICMR Director-General Dr. Balram Bhargava's term has been extended for another three months. In April, the appointment committee of the cabinet approved the extension, following which Bhargava will continue as the secretary of health research and director-general of the ICMR. Starting from April 15, Dr Bhargava's term would end on July 15. Notably, Dr. Balram Bhargava was appointed as the ICMR Director-General on April 16, 2018.

CM Jagan Mohan Reddy Revamps Cabinet As Promised: Andhra Pradesh
Andhra Pradesh CM Jagan Mohan Reddy, keeping up his promise on revamping the cabinet, has reconstituted it. CM Jagan Reddy announced to increase the representation of SC, ST, Other Backward Castes (OBC) and minorities to 68%. Earlier, there were seven members from OBCs, five from SCs and one from STs. There will now be 11-17 member from the backward classes, five from SCs and one from STs.

CCS Approves Proposal To Procure 15 Light Combat Helicopters
The Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS), which is led by the Prime Minister, approved a proposal to procure 15 Light Combat Helicopters (LCH), for a cost of Rs 3,887 crore. The cabinet further stated that 10 of these helicopters will go to the Indian Air Force and five to the Indian Army. The high-performance helicopter will reportedly be used in search and rescue, counter insurgency and other operations.
