Assam Floods: People Seen Taking Shelters On Embankments & Highways In Nagaon, 10 More Dead In 24 Hours

People affected by the flood situation in Assam's Nagaon, were seen taking shelters on embankments and highways. The condition in Nagaon continues to stay grim, with more than 5.03 lakh people still affected. A total of 45.35 lakh people have been affected in Assam due to the floods. About 10 fatalities were reported in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of casualties to 117, on June 25.

Assam CM Himanta Sarma Surveys Flood-Hit Silchar District From Air

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma made aerial survey of the flood-hit Silchar district, on June 23. CM Sarma was accompanied by Silchar MP Dr Rajdeep Roy and Superintendent of Police, Cachar. Over a Tweet, he said that he will visit the flood-hit areas and talk to the locals. He further stated that he will "review the situation with Cachar district administration for expedition our relief efforts".

Assam Floods: IAF, BSF, CRPF, NDRF, SDRF Carry Out Rescue Operations In Cachar

The flood situation in Assam's Cachar worsened, due to which, Indian Army, Border Security Force (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), National Disaster Relief Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Relief Fund (SDRF) carried out rescue operations. 26 Rohingya Refugees Including 12 Children Detained In Cachar: Assam

In Assam's Cachar, 26 Rohingya refugees have been detained by police, on May 29. Of which, 12 are reportedly children. Chachar district's Superintendent of Police (SP) Ramandeep Kaur said that the Rohingyas who were coming from Jammu, reached at Kamakhya railway station and travelled to Silchar by road. Reportedly, the Rohingyas are currently being interrogated and further details on the matter is awaited.

Assam Flood: 6 More Deaths Reported, 7.2 Lakh Affected Across 22 Districts

The grim situation in Assam is continuing to deteriorate due to the current flood situation. In the latest development, six more persons lost their lives including two children, taking the death toll to 24. As of May 23, 7.2 lakh persons have been affected across 22 districts. Nagaon is the worst hit district with 3.46 lakh people affected. Followed by Cachar (at least 2.29 lakh people) and Hojai (58,300 people).

Assam Flood: IAF Deploys Aircrafts, Rescues 119 Stranded Persons Using Choppers

In the flood-affected areas of Assam, the Indian Air Force (IAF) is continuing to provide assist with its airlift rescue teams. The IAF is also providing relief materials to the people in the region. The two Mi-17 helicopters deployed by the IAF, helped evacuate about 119 stranded persons at Ditokchera railway station. Furthermore, about 24,747 stranded persons have been rescued with the help of the Indian Army.

Parents Use Boat To Take Children To School: Assam Floods

In Assam's Dhemaji district, parents were seen taking their children to a primary school in boat, since the area has been flooded. A teacher of the school stated that there are about 29 students in the school, and due to the flood situation, some are not able to turn up. Reportedly, 2.88 lakh people have been affected in Nagaon, 1.22 lakh in Cachar and 1.07 lakh in Hojai.

Assam Floods Update: 222 Villages Affected, 10,321 Hectares Of Crop Land Submerged

The grim situation in Assam is worsening as the loss caused due to the floodwaters is increasing. About 222 villages have been affected across 15 revenue circles. Around 10,321.44 hectares of cultivated land is submerged under floodwaters. So far, three people including a child has gone missing. SDRF, Fire and Emergency services are engaged in various rescue operations in the flood affected regions.

Goat Gives Birth To Human-Like Baby In Assam's Cachar

In the Gangapur village of Assam's Cachar, a goat gave birth to a baby which looks like a human from its face, said media reports. Reportedly, the goat gave birth to two babies but only one of them had a deformity. The baby was born with human-like eyes, nose, mouth, two limbs, and without a tail. However, the ears were reported to be like a goat. Unfortunately, it couldn't survive.
