NIA To Probe Ram Navami Clash Violence, Orders Calcutta HC

The Calcutta High Court ordered the West Bengal Police to hand over the Ram Navami Clash case to the National Investigation Agency (NIA.) On April 27, the HC reviewed a plea filed by West Bengal BJP leader Suvendhu Adhikari, who wanted an NIA probe into the Ram Navami clash, which occurred in the Hooghly region. The division bench ordered the State Police to hand over the case details to NIA.

CBI Team Investigates Hanshkali Gang Rape Case, Visits West Bengal

After the Calcutta High Court handed over the Hanshkali Gang-Rape case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI,) the team visited the region, in Nadia district for the probe. As per ANI, the CFSL team collected samples of the accused from her residence. Notably, a 14-year-old was allegedly gang-raped by a TMC leader earlier in April. However, Mamata Banerjee called it love affair and demanded evidence, to prove the crime.

CBI To Probe TMC Leader's Death Which Resulted In 'Birbhum Violence': West Bengal

The Calcutta High Court ordered CBI to probe into the death of Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Bhadhu Sheikh, on April 8. The killing of Bhadhu Sheikh is believed to have resulted in the retaliatory killing of nine people in Bogtui village, which sparked a nationwide controversy. The CBI already ordered a CBI probe in the 'Birbhum violence' case. The nine people were burnt alive, last month.

Birbhum Violent Case: BJP Committee Submits Report To JP Nadda

To investigate the Birbhum Violence Case, the BJP formed a five-member committee, which submitted its report to the BJP National President JP Nadda. On March 30, the fact-finding committee, which recently visited Birbhum, West Bengal, and probed the killings of eight people, after the political outrage amid TMC leader's murder. Meanwhile, the Calcutta HC directed the WB SIT to hand over the case to the CBI, which named 21 accused.

CM Mamata Banerjee Meets Families Of Birbhum Violence Victims: West Bengal

West Bengal CM visited Birbhum and conveyed condolences to the families of eight people who died in fire, set by alleged mob. On March 24, Banerjee announced Rs 5 lakh ex-gratia & jobs to families who lost their kin in the violence incident. She also announced Rs 2 lakh for reconstruction of houses burnt in Rampurhat village. Meanwhile, the Calcutta HC took suo-moto and ordered CCTV installation and 24X7 surveillance.

Area Around Durga Puja Pandals To Be No-entry Zone: Calcutta HC

Owing to the menace of COVID-19 infection, the Calcutta High Court on October 1 declared the no-entry zones to the area where Durga Puja pandals would be erected across the state. Reportedly, the court had also issued a similar order last year to stop the crowd from gathering near pandals. Calcutta HC Orders Defaulters To Immediately Pay School Fee

Expressing displeasure over school fee dues, the Calcutta HC directed the parents who ''deliberately not paying the dues'' to submit at least 50% fee within three weeks on August 6. Moreover, the court directed the educational institutions to send a notice to the defaulters within a week. On not paying the fees, the schools can take action against those. The court will again hear the matter on September 2.
