Erupting Volcano In Spain's Canary Islands Raises Concerns

Experts reported on September 30 that lava from erupting volcano on La Palma in Spain's Canary Islands began pouring into the ocean two days ago, raising fears about poor air quality in surrounding residential areas. It's being cautioned that a predicted shift in the wind might bring additional dangers. In Tazacorte, people have been advised to stay at home as sulphur dioxide levels rose in atomosphere.

Volcano Erupts On Spain's La Palma Island; 5K People Evacuated

Over 5000 people were evacuated on Spain's La Palma island, part of the Canary Islands archipelago, before the volcanic eruption on September 19. Reportedly, an earthquake magnitude of 4.2 also jolted the island before the eruption and the last eruption was reported here in 1971. Meanwhile, the president of La Palama island, Mariano Hernandez said, ''There are no immediate reports of death but the lava flows made him concerned".
