Jaishankar Receives ‘Tiranga Welcome’ As He Arrives In Australia’s Canberra

India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar was received with a “Tiranga Welcome”, as he arrived in Australia’s Canberra on October 10. He is scheduled to meet top leadership of Australia and hold talks, to enhance the bilateral relationship with India. He is also expected to visit Sydney during his stay in Australia. “So happy to see the old Parliament House of Australia in our national colours,” said Jaishankar.

Australia Eases Covid-19 Restrictions; Masks No Longer Required

The Government Of Australia, on October 29 announced to remove every restrictions on the Covid-19 guidelines for the city of Canberra. Reports stated that the city has the highest vaccine rate in the country, upto 92 percent of the population vaccinated. Hospitality venues, gyms and cinema theatres have been reopened with upto 75 percent seating capacity. Moreover, people of the city are no longer required  to wear face-masks.

India To Get Back 14 'Religious, Cultural Artefacts' From Australia

As many as 14 artworks, including six that have been allegedly stolen or illegally exported, will be returned to India by the National Gallery of Australia. These features sculptures, photographs, and a scroll that were either stolen, looted, or of unknown origin. The artworks are to be returned to India within months. Besides, they are “religious and cultural artefacts” worth about $2.2 million.
