Chhattisgarh Police Arrests 9 People, Seizes Cannabis Worth Rs 4.50 Cr

In three incidents, the Chhattisgarh Police seized cannabis worth Rs 4.50 crore and arrested nine people, on April 25. Ganja Worth Rs 2.33 Crore Seized In Anakapalle District: Andhra Pradesh

In Andhra Pradesh's Anakapalle district, Ganja worth more than Rs 2 crore were seized, on April 20. Reportedly, the drug was being transported from Vijayawada to Hyderabad in a truck, through the NH-16 National Highway. About 1169.30 Kilograms of Cannabis worth Rs 2.33 crore was recovered and confiscated by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), reported ANI. Further details on the matter is awaited.

Four Held With Cannabis In Chittoor District

Four persons in Andhra Pradesh's Chittoor district have been held with 1.435 kilograms of liquid cannabis, amounting to over Rs 7 lakh. Ravi Prakash, Anantapur Range DIG, noted that they have recently amped up surveillance to check drug trafficking in the area, as per the orders of the state DGP. With the emergence of synthetic drugs, the district SP has been directed to closely monitor the activity of drug smugglers.

Cannabis To Possibly Cure COVID-19 Infection: Study

Researchers from Oregon State University found that cannabis compounds could be an alternative to cure Covid-19 infections. Two compounds namely, Cannabigerolic Acid (CBGA) and Cannabidiolic Acid (CBDA) found in Hemp are responsible for combating the virus. Indore Police Seize Over 16,000 kg Of Cannabis; 5 Held

Indore police have arrested five persons for storing16,000 kg of illegal cannabis, worth Rs 50 lakh in a godown on January 5. "We got information that cannabis was being stored illegally in a godown. Our team raided the spot," Additional DCP, Guru Prasad Parashar told ANI. Earlier, on January 5, in a different case, two people were arrested for trafficking Rs 3.15 cannabis in Indore. However, further investigation is underway.

SEB Destroys 49 Acres Of Cannabis Plantation Under Operation Parivarthan: AP

Under 'Operation Parivarthan,' the Special Enforcement Bureau (SEB) and Visakhapatnam Police destroyed 49 acres of cannabis plantation in Nerellabanda village of Gudem Kotha Veedhi Mandal.  On December 12, Mandal Inspector GK Veedhi said it's an awareness program to inform villagers about the ill effects of the cannabis crop. Earlier in November, 5,500 acres of cannabis cultivation were destroyed in the Visakhapatnam Rural Agency Area.

Chennai Air Customs Seize Ganja, Psychotropic Tablets

Authorities in Chennai intercepted a massive consignment of drugs comprising ecstasy tablets, LSD stamps and high quantity of cannabis. People have been arrested in connection with the seizure valued at Rs 58 lakhs. Based on a tip, the Air Customs officials opened a cardboard box delivered from Spain containing greeting cards. Upon opening, officials found pink colour tablets which were later identified as MDMA tablets.

Faridabad Woman Arrested For Framing Her Husband Under Cannabis Case

Faridabad Police registered an FIR against a woman who allegedly tried to frame her husband under cannabis case. Reportedly, the woman had bought 700 grams of cannabis from a dealer in Delhi, planted in her husband's auto-rickshaw and tipped off the police. The woman has been arrested and sent to prison, said the police. However, the investigation is underway to catch hold of the drug dealer.
