Iran has executed three women in a single day, for charges of murdering their husbands, informed an NGO, on July 29. According to activists, cases of women killing their husbands have increased in the recent times. Most of these women have abusive husbands or were married off as child brides. In 2022, at least 10 women have been hanged in Iran for the same offence.

Special excise-cum-ADJ-II court in Bihar has awarded death sentences for nine convicted in the Gopalganj illicit liquor tragedy. Uttar Pradesh’s Mathura district jail is preparing to hang the country’s first woman prisoner, Shabnam, after independence. Convicted of killing seven family members with her lover, Shabnam's mercy plea was rejected by ex-president Pranab Mukherjee.
