BAMCEF Calls For Bharat Bandh On May 25 Urging For Caste-Based Census

All India Backward and Minority Communities Employees Federation (BAMCEF) advocated for Bharat Bandh on May 25 to seek a caste-based census. The protest was organized to condemn the Centre's refusal to perform a caste-based census for the Other Backward Classes (OBC). The Federation also wants reservations in the private sector for the SC/ST/OBC populations. BAMCEF also proposed that farmers get a definite minimum support price (MSP).

WB CM Mamata Banerjee Backs Caste-Based Census In India

West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee has also extended her hand to support the caste-based census in the country on August 23. Banerjee said, ''I'll not have any problem accepting it. If all parties accept it, Why won't I?.'' Notably, her stance came after the delegation of 10 parties led by Bihar CM Nitish Kumar met PM Narendra Modi in Bihar to raise the demand.
