Court Works Curtails After 2 Die Of COVID-19 In Mathura: Uttar Pradesh
Mathura district judiciary in UP curtailed its functioning, amid spike in COVID-19 cases on January 17. District Judge Rajeev Bharti, issued the order, restricting litigants and staff entry without judge's permission. The decision was taken as per the Allahabad High Court orders, after two COVID-19 deaths in the region. As per the official, the court will function while taking all the necessary precautions till further orders .

Over 200 Cops In Maharastra Succumb To COVID-19 Infection: Report
As many as 265 Maharastra police personnel have succumbed to the COVID-19 infection so far, while there are 2,145 active cases in the state police. The highest number of COVID-related deaths, which is 126, has been recorded in state police personnel posted in Mumbai. Notably, Maharastra reported 46,723 new COVID cases, and out of this, 16,420 new cases were recorded in Mumbai.

1 Killed, 2 Injured In Gas Leak At Ghatkopar Mumbai
In a tragic incident, one person died, while two others were hospitalized after inhaling gas leaked in Mumbai's Ghatkopar area in the morning of January 10, an official said. He said that the incident took place at Kurla Industrial Estate in Narayan Nagar, when methanol and cyanuric chloride leaked there. The cause of the gas leak was not immediately known, the official added.

Rockslide In Brazil Leaves 6 Dead & Several Others Injured
About six people died, 32 others were injured, and 20 went missing after several giant rocks collapsed from a canyon and fell onto four boats in Brazil. The incident took place on January 8, when large rocks fell from canyon that surrounds Furnas-Lake. Earlier, heavy rains were recorded during the morning, due to which some geologists believe that waterspouts may have caused the rocks to fall.

14 Killed, 17 Injured In Road Accident At Egypt
After two buses collided with each other, 14 people were killed and 17 others were injured on January 8, in Sinai-Peninsula, Egypt. As per officials, the buses collided while speeding in poor visibility due to fog, following which the victims were taken to a hospital nearby. According to the official figures, about 7,000 people were killed on the country's roads in 2020.
