Environment Ministry Approves Rs 33,000 Cr Refinery in Tamil Nadu

The Environment Ministry has given its approval to Chennai Petroleum Corporation Ltd to build a 9 million metric tonnes per annum (MMTPA) refinery in Tamil Nadu. The Rs 33,000-crore refinery will be built at the Cauvery basin. It will be able to produce 1.6 MMTPA of BS-VI grade gasoline, 0.6 MMTPA of LPG and 0.3 MMTPA of Aviation Turbine Fuel. Reportedly, it would provide employment to about 1,600 people.
