NCLAT Declines Amazon's Appeal Against Order Passed By CCI For Suspending FCPL Deal Approval

National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) dismissed Amazon's appeal against CCI's judgment on June 13. The CCI suspended two-year-old permission for Amazon's deal with Future Coupons Pvt Ltd (FCPL) in December, claiming that Amazon had withheld information when seeking clearances for the transaction at the time. NCLAT bench agreed with CCI's ruling that Amazon had not made full disclosures of the content to the Commission. Delhi HC Grants Time To WhatsApp & Facebook Over CCI Probe

As a relief to Facebook and WhatsApp, the Delhi High Court granted time to respond to the Competition Commission of India (CCI) notice. Recently, the CCI issued notice seeking response over privacy policies of the two apps. Notably, the matter is pending before the High Court and is under judicial custody. Considering the same, the Division bench of Delhi HC granted time and adjourned the matter to March 30.

CCI Approves 100% Acquisition of Air India By New Owner Tata Company

The Competition Commission of India, on December 20, approved Tata Company to acquire 100% acquisition of Air India. CCI also gave green signal to acquire 50% shares of Air India SATS Airport services Pvt Ltd.  After the highest bid of Rs 18,000 crore in Air India, Tata took over Air India in October. Meanwhile, the Tatas will pay Rs 2,700 crore and clear Rs 15,300 crore debt.

CCI Fines Maruti Suzuki Rs 200 Cr For ''Anti Competitive Conduct''

Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) has been fined Rs 200 crore for getting involved in ''anti-competitive conduct'' by the Competition Commission of India (CCI). The CCI found in its investigation that MSIL forced its dealers not to offer extra discounts beyond the prescribed limit of the company. The company also took the help of Mystery Shopping Agencies (MSAs) to spy on dealers and had a policy of imposing penalties.
