No Foreign Guests For Republic Day Celebrations Amid Ongoing 3rd Wave

Amid the ongoing third wave, Central Government called off the plans to invite chief guests from Central Asia, for Republic Day celebrations. The Central Asian states and India are now focusing on a virtual summit of the leadership of the six countries, reported by a foreign diplomat. The possibility of inviting an alternative chief guest has been ruled out. Reportedly, India witnessed a single day spike of 2,58,089 COVID cases.

India To Invite 5 Asian Countries As Chief Guest For Republic Day

India has decided to invite leaders of five central Asian countries as the chief guest for Republic Day in 2022. The five countries include Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. However, Kazakhstan is the only country which has been the chief guest for the occasion in 2009. Besides, New Delhi is set to host the Central Asian, India Foreign Minister's meet on December 18 and 19.
