Same Sex Marriage: SC Asks Centre To Provide Benefits Similar To Marriage
In a relief to homosexual, the Supreme Court on Thursday asked the Centre to find a way to give same-sex couples basic social benefits, like joint bank accounts or nominating a partner in insurance policies, even without legal recognition of their marital status. The statement came during an ongoing hearing into a bunch of PILs filed in the Top Court, seeking legal validation for same-sex marriage in India.

Apex Court Resumes Hearing On Same Sex Marriage
Supreme Court bench headed by CJI DY Chandrachud entered the second day of its hearing on the historic same-sex marriage issue. The bench continued hearing the bunch of PILs filed seeking legal validation for same-sex marriage in India. However, on the second day, the Central Government filed an application, demanding the appearance of states and UTs in the hearing, as they are major stakeholders and should give opinions.

Central Govt Extended Date For Aadhar Card, PAN Card Link
The Government of India announced a new date to link Aadhar Cards with PAN cards. As per the central government notice, the new date is said to be June 30. It said that notification in this regard is being issued separately. Linking PAN with Aadhaar is important to help curb tax evasion. The CBDT also mentioned the penal action a taxpayer will have to face from July 1.

Centre Transfers 2 Judges To Madras HC, Issues Notice
The Union Law Ministry transferred two judges of the Andhra Pradesh HC and Telangana HC. No Additional Compensation For Bhopal Gas Tragedy Victims: SC
In a major drawback for Bhopal Gas Tragedy victims, the Supreme Court (SC,) rejected the Centre's curative petition seeking additional compensation from Union Carbide Corporation (UCC.) In the plea, the Centre demanded additional Rs 7,844 crores, over already paid $470 million, which claimed 3,000 lives and maimed thousands more.
