No Additional Compensation For Bhopal Gas Tragedy Victims: SC
In a major drawback for Bhopal Gas Tragedy victims, the Supreme Court (SC,) rejected the Centre's curative petition seeking additional compensation from Union Carbide Corporation (UCC.) In the plea, the Centre demanded additional Rs 7,844 crores, over already paid $470 million, which claimed 3,000 lives and maimed thousands more. PM Narendra Modi Launches Shivamogga Airport, Development Projects In Karnataka
PM Narendra Modi arrived in Karnataka to launch the most awaited Shivamogga Airport. On February 27, Modi inaugurated Shivamogga Airport in a boost to connectivity and accessibility of the Karnataka city and other neighbouring areas in the Malnad region. The airport all facilities Rs 450 crores, with a capacity of 300 travellers at a time. Besides the airport, PM Modi inaugurated other development projects also.

Oppositions Hit Out At PM Modi Over IT Raids At BBC Offices
Congress and opposition leaders took a dig against PM Narendra Modi-led central government over the IT department surveys in the BBC offices in Delhi and Mumbai. On February 15, Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera said, "India is the mother of democracy but why is India’s Prime Minister ‘Father of hypocrisy?" He added, " India’s situation is dire compared to our neighboring countries. What happened yesterday will it ever help the rankings?”

SC Issues Notice To Central Govt Regarding Banned BBC Documentary
The Supreme Court (SC) issued a notice to the Central Government over the banned BBC Documentary on PM Narendra Modi. Reviewing a plea, the SC directed the Centre to produce original records of its decision to suspend tweets circulating links to the controversial documentary, "India: The Modi Question' on the 2002 Gujarat Riots. The SC bench gave three weeks' time to the Centre and adjourned the matter in April.

Over 95 Lakh Vehicles Older Than 15 Years To Be Replaced, Says Gadkari
Union Road and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari said, "More than nine lakh vehicles, owned by central and state governments, transport corporations and public sector undertakings, that are older than 15 years will go off the road from April 1 and new vehicles will replace them." On January 30, Gadkari addressed a meeting and confirmed the development, ensuring the safety of people by promoting electric vehicles.

Central Govt Bans PFI Amid 'Terror Links' With Immediate Effect
The Government of India banned the Popular Front of India (PFI) its associates, affiliates and other groups, amid "terror links". On September 27, after multiple raids across India, the Central Government took the decision and banned the outfit under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA,) for a period of five years, with immediate effect. Besides PFI, other fronts like RIF, CFI, NCHRO and AIIC are also banned in India.

SC Issues Notice To Govt Regarding Fraudulent Religious Coversion
Supreme Court has issued notice to Central Government regarding fraudulent religious conversion. On September 23, the Apex Court bench of justices MR Shah and Krishna Murari issued orders, asking the GoI to take the necessary steps and control the religious conversion fraud, after reviewing a plea seeking direction to the Centre and State governments. The top court asked the parties to file a reply by November 14 and adjourned the matter.

SC Issues Notice To Central Govt Regarding Demands Of Evacuated Ukraine Students
The Supreme Court reviewed a bunch of pleas filed by the evacuated Indians studying medicine in Ukraine and issued notice to the Central Government. On August 26, the Apex Court bench led by Justice Hemant Gupta, directed government to file reply to the demands of students, seeking permission to continue medicine studies in India, as Ukraine is a war-hit region after Ukraine invasion. The matter has been listed in September.
