Telangana Finance Minister Slams Central Govt, Demands Issue Of White Paper On Jobs

Telangana Finance Minister T Harish Rao slammed Bharatiya Janata Party-led central government on July 4 and asked them to submit a white paper on providing two crore jobs per year, as pledged during elections. He claimed the Telangana agitation was primarily about water, finances, and employment. Centre Approves Rs 1043.23 Cr As Relief Fund For Drought-Hit Rajasthan & Nagaland

After Rajasthan and Nagaland were hit by drought from 2021 to 2022, the union government approved additional central assistance fund of 1043.23 crore in total. Of which, Rs 1003.95 crore will go to Rajasthan and Rs 39.28 crore to Nagaland. The amount was approved under the National Disaster Response Fund by a High Level Committee (HLC) under the Chairmanship of Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

Centre Sanctions Rs 180 Cr For Restoration Of Rail Link Due To Landslides & Floods: Assam

Followed by floods and landslides in Assam's Dima Hasao district, the central government has sanctioned Rs 180 crore for the restoration of the railway network, on May 23. Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed the allocated funds. The restoration work will reportedly be completed by July 10. Reportedly, significant train routes have been disturbed and several trains have been cancelled, due to the Damage in tracks.

Minority Status To Hindus: SC Gives 3 Months Time To Centre To Hold Consultations

Centre has been given three months of time to hold consultations with various state governments, in the matter of granting "minority status" to Hindus in certain states, by Supreme Court on May 10. SC bench headed by Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul stated that the consultations should have been held before filing the affidavit. The issue is regarding issuing minority status to Hindus in states highly populous with other communities.

Centre Happy To Bring Fuel Under GST, If States Support: Hardeep Puri

Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Puri has said that the Central Government would be happy to bring petroleum and diesel under GST, but that the states are not willing. Puri insisted that the government is taking responsibility, and suggested that the states should also try, and cut down the value-added taxes on fuel. He also chalked up the oil price hike to the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

Delhi HC Issues Notice On PIL Seeking Review Of Criminal Procedure (Identification) Act

The Delhi High Court has issued a notice to the Central Government over a PIL seeking a review of the Criminal Procedure (Identification) Act, 2022. The petitioner, Harshit Goel, has prayed that Sections 2(1)(a) (iii), 2(1)(b), 3, 4, 5, 6 and 8 of this Act should be declared unconstitutional. The plea argues that bodily integrity is protected under Article 21, and that prisoners are also entitled to it.

Centre Given '2 Weeks' In Livestreaming Same-Sex Marriage Petitions Issue

In an application filed before the Hon'ble High Court of Delhi seeking live streaming of proceedings of petitions pertaining to the recognition of same-sex marriages, Delhi HC has given two weeks of time for the Centre to respond. The order has come after Delhi HC notified the centre in November, 2021, and received no response. CCS Approves Proposal To Procure 15 Light Combat Helicopters

The Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS), which is led by the Prime Minister, approved a proposal to procure 15 Light Combat Helicopters (LCH), for a cost of Rs 3,887 crore. The cabinet further stated that 10 of these helicopters will go to the Indian Air Force and five to the Indian Army. The high-performance helicopter will reportedly be used in search and rescue, counter insurgency and other operations.
