Madhya Pradesh: 5 Cheetahs To Be Released From Camps Into Free Ranging

Five cheetahs, three females and two males will be released from the acclimatisation camps into free-ranging conditions in Madhya Pradesh's Kuno National Park before the onset of the monsoon in June, said the Union Environment Ministry. The ministry said the decision was taken after a team of experts reviewed the current status of the "Project Cheetah" on the directions of the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA.)

IAF Lands To India With 12 Cheetahs From South Africa

Indian Air Force (IAF) chopper airlifts 12 cheetahs from South Africa, on February 18. Five male and seven female big cats landed in Madhya Pradesh's Kuno National Park (KNP.) These big cats will be released into the KNP by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Union minister Bhupender Yadav. The cheetahs from South Africa sent to KNP will be in quarantine enclosures.

India To Bring 10 Cheetahs From South Africa

The C-17 transport aircraft of the Indian Air Force (IAF) left India on February 16 morning, to bring the 12 cheetahs from South Africa. The National Tiger Conservation Authority official said, the cheetahs will arrive in India on February 18. Environment minister Bhupendra Yadav said that as many as 10 quarantine enclosures have been created at Madhya Pradesh’s Kuno National Park for 12 cheetahs being flown in from South Africa.

Namibia Returnees Cheetahs Being Monitored In MP's Kuno National Park

Madhya Pradesh's Kuno National Park experts are monitoring the eight cheetahs brought from Namibia, who are trying to acclimatise to the new environment in India. On September 20, wildlife experts said they are monitoring from hole in a loft near their quarantine enclosures to ensure the least human intervention. There are five female and three male Cheetahs, aged between 30 to 66 months and are in good condition, said DFO.

Special Cargo Flights To Ferry 8 Cheetahs From Namibia To India's Gwarlior

The B747 Jumbo Jet from India that landed in Namibia on Thursday to ferry eight cheetahs will arrive in Gwalior instead of Jaipur. The special cargo flight will ferry the big cats, to be introduced into the Indian wildlife by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his birthday on September 17. The eagerly awaited cheetahs from African country will land in Gwalior before being taken to Madhya Pradesh's Kuno National Park.
