Tortoise Believed To Have Gone Extinct 100 Years Ago Resurfaces

A giant tortoise rediscovered in 2019 in the Galapagos islands is confirmed as the species that was believed to have gone extinct 100 years ago. Yale University has identified the tortoise as the Chelonoidis Phantasticus species. The Galapagos National Park is arranging an expedition to search for more tortoises of the same species, to save them. The Galapagos island is a sanctuary for many diverse species.
