The AIADMK headquarter office at "MGR Maaligai" was reopened after being sealed for 10-days, on July 21. Notably, the Revenue authorities sealed the AIADMK office, after violence that broke out between supporters of then-rival leaders K Palaniswami and O Panneerselvam, over single leadership issues. However, on July 20, the Madras High Court quashed the orders of the Revenue authorities, directing to reopen the office.

DMK Minister KR Periyakaruppan Loses It On Journalist; Video Goes Viral
In Tamil Nadu's Shivaganga district, DMK minister KR Periyakaruppan took it out on a journalist, and the video has been garnering popularity on social media. Reportedly, the minister arrived at an event two hours late. And when confronted by a journalist for being late, he allegedly threatened him. He is seen asking angrily "who waited for three hours?"

Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin Discharged From Hospital After Contracting COVID-19; Casts Vote In Presidential Polls
Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin who was admitted to hospital after he contracted COVID-19, has been discharged. Following his discharge, he arrived at the secretariat complex at around 10 am, and was the first to cast his vote in the complex. The presidential polls to elect the 15th president of India began on July 18, and votes counting of votes is scheduled to take place on July 21.

Former Tamil Nadu CM O Panneerselvam Hospitalised After Developing COVID Symptoms
Former Tamil Nadu CM O Panneerselvam has been admitted to hospital after he developed COVID-19 symptoms. He was admitted in the isolation unit on July 15, said MGM healthcare bulletin. Furthermore, his condition is stable, and is under observation by a clinical team. Meanwhile, CM MK Stalin wished Panneerselvam a speedy recovery. Notably, this has come days after Panneerselvam was expelled from AIADMK party.

Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin Recovering Well & In Good Health: Hospital
The hospital treating Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin gave an update about his current condition, stating that Stalin is "recovering well and in good health". CM Stalin tested postive for COVID-19, and was admitted to Kauvery hospital, on July 13. Meanwhile, PM Modi over a phone call, wished CM Stalin a speedy recovery. Futhermore, Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi and several other leaders wished him good health.

AIADMK Assures Action Against O Panneerselvam Amid Expel Demands
After announcing Edappady K Palaniswami as the General Secretary (GS) of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), the party assured to take action against O Panneerselvam (OPS). The statement came on July 11, after the demands to expel OPS and his followers out of the party, after claiming that OPS is a 'betrayer' of the AIADMK. Notably, the OPS and AIADMK are having issue over the single-leadership resolution issue.

Tamilian Actor Chiyaan Vikram Hospitalised In Chennai For Heart Attack
Chiyaan Vikram, a famous Tamilian actor, experienced a heart attack on July 8 and was taken to Kauvery hospital in Chennai, where he underwent angioplasty. According to hospital sources, the actor is in good condition. A health report from the hospital is yet to be released. He was expected to be present for the Chennai teaser debut of his upcoming movie, Ponniyin Selvan, scheduled for July 8.

Chennai Police Apologises & Deletes Controversial Tweet Objecting Post On 'Beef Curry': Tamil Nadu
Chennai police apologised and deleted a Tweet objecting a user's post on "beef curry", on July 7. A user, by the name Abu Backer, whose profile describes him as the state coordinator of Naam Tamizhar Katchi, posted a photo which captioned "Maattu Kari", which translates to "Beef Curry". Chennai police's Twitter handle responded saying, "such posts are unnecessary here," which left several angered. Later the comment was deleted.

Chennai Mandates Wearing Masks, Asks People To Avoid Forming Large Groups Amid Rising Covid-19 Cases
In response to the increasing Covid-19 cases, Chennai Corporation mandated wearing of masks in all public places on July 4 and warned residents to avoid forming large gatherings. The number of cases in Tamil Nadu has been increasing recently. On July 3, the state reported more than 2,000 new infections for the third day in a row, bringing the total number of active cases to 34,82,775.

IT Dept Conducts Raids At 40 Premises, Detects Tax Evasion Amounting To Rs 400 Cr
The Income Tax department conducted raids at over 40 premises, in a case related to a business engaged in manufacture of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL), hospitality, entertainment, etc. The raids were conducted in Villupuram, Chennai, Puducherry, Coimbatore and Hyderabad.
