CHILDLINE '1098' Data Reveals 86 Lakh Silent Calls Since 2018
Data revealed by the CHILDLINE ‘1098’, has reported 86 lakh 'silent calls' between January 2018-September 2020, contributing to 40% of the total 2.15 crore calls. The helpline officials attributed the caller's silence to fear of violence or abuse. However, authorities told that silent calls have declined over the past three years from 42% in 2018, 39% in 2019 to 36% in 2020. Maharashtra: Mother Stabs 12-Year-Old for Failing to Answer in Online Class
The Mumbai police have arrested a 35-year-old woman for allegedly stabbing her 12-year- old daughter with a pencil and biting her multiple times after she failed to answer her tutor during online classes. According to the police, the girl was unable to respond to her tutor, which upset her mother. It was the child's younger sister who instantly dialed the children's helpline number (1098), and reported of the offense.
