4 Children Gets HIV Positive After Blood Transfusion, 1 Dies: Nagpur

Chandigarh Admin To Bar Unvaccinated Students From Attending Classes
The UT Chandigarh Administration has decided to bar unvaccinated school students, who are eligible for vaccination, from attending physical classes. There are no options for online classes either. Notably, a sero-survey had revealed in July 2021, that 69% of the children in Chandigarh already had Covid antibodies, due to past infection. Dr Jayaprakash Muliyil, an NTAGI member, had earlier said that there was no need to vaccinate children.

DCGI Grants EUA For 2 Doses Of ZyCoV-D, COVID Vaccine For Children
The Drugs Controller General of India granted Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) of two doses of ZyCoV-D, a COVID-19 vaccine for children above 12 years old. Manufactured by Zydus Lifesciences limited, the vaccine was used in three doses, for 0,28, and 56 days. However, with the recent approval, ZyCoV-D would now be used in two doses, with a gap of 0-28 days. With this, vaccination time required will be reduced.

DCGI Approves Covaxin For Children Between 6-12 Year Old, Corbevax For EUA
The Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) approved the two vaccines Covaxin and Corbevax for children under 12 in India, against COVID-19. Mentally Ill Father Throws Children In Well: Jaunpur
In a shocking incident, a father allegedly threw his two young children in a well in Nayepura village, Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh, said police on April 25. Circle Officer Jitendra Dubey said, Irfan, who is a Saudi Arabia returnee and mentally ill, allegedly threw his children Armaan (5) and Saumya (7) in the well. The bodies have been brought out of the well and Irfan has been arrested.

19 Crude Bombs Found In Abandoned Auto-Rickshaw: West Bengal
In Kolkata, 19 crude bombs were seized from an abandoned auto-rickshaw near a children's home, confirmed police on April 23. As per PTI, the search was based on a tip-off, and after the raid found bombs. The officer said, "19 crude bombs, one country-made pistol and two cartridges were found in one of the auto-rickshaws". The official launched an investigation to assure if it is a terror plot.

SEC Recommends Corbevax COVID-19 Vaccine For 5-12 Year Old
The Subject Expert Committee (SEC) or the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) recommended the Corbevax COVID-19 vaccine for children between the 5 to 12-year-old age group. On April 21, the government panel said the vaccine is effective in children and has been recommended after trials. Furthermore, the final approval for the emergency use authorization (EUA) of Corbevax would be given by the DCGI soon.

RPF Saves 65 Lives, Rescues 1,156 Children From Traffic In Febking
Railway Protection Force (RPF) apprised that in February they rescued 1,156 children who got separated or lost due to any inconvenience. COVID Vaccination Drive For Children Aged 12-14 Begins; Co-Morbidity Clause Removed
Children aged 12-14 years can now get their vaccine shots, starting from March 16. Corbevax vaccine manufactured by Hyderabad based Biological E, will be administered to children in the said age group. Also, everyone above 60 years of age are now eligible for a precautionary dose, starting from March 16. Initially, only those with pre-existing co-morbidities were eligible for the precautionary shot.
