China President Xi Jinping Celebrates 100 Years Of Communist Governance

Celebrating 100 years of China's ruling Communist Party, President Xi Jinping addressed a mass gathering on July 1. Jinping said that "whoever attempts to bully China will be left with broken heads and bloodshed in front of the iron Great Wall of 1.4 billion Chinese people." In his speech, Jinping spoke about China's role in bringing global prominence in Hong Kong and Taiwan under its control.

China has implemented a new law which holds criminal offence of those who make statements with an intent to defame the People's Liberation Army (PLA) soldiers. The law came into being as a result of the National People's Congress Standing Committee proceedings on June 10. According to the new law, people who defame or dishonor and insult or smear the reputation of the members of the armed forces will be held accountable.
