China Records Highest Number Of New Covid-19 Cases In 6 Weeks

China on October 30, recorded its highest number of Coronavirus cases in more than six weeks with over 59 cases everyday. China Claims 76% Of Its Population Vaccinated From COVID-19 Vaccine

China has administered both the doses of COVID-19 vaccine to about 75.6% of its population so far, said National Health Commission spokesperson, Mi Feng on October 24. Reportedly, a total of 2.245 billion doses of the vaccine has been inoculated to some 1.068 billion people out of targeted 1.412 billion. Besides, China has also started giving booster shots to older people and people with weak immunity.

China's First 'Monkey Virus' Case Dies

A 53-year-old Chinese veterinarian who tested positive for Monkey B virus (BV) in April and died on May 27, is identified as the first case in China. Reportedly, he dissected two dead monkeys in march and subsequently started showing symptoms such as nausea and vomiting. However, the person who was in close contact reported negative for the virus. The virus' fatality rate is 70-80%.
