Mumbai's Forest Hero Grows 10 'Food Forests' Of Fruits, Vegetables

George Remedios, a 36-year-old former Mumbai resident has created multiple food forests with saplings of papayas, guava, mango, and more which has also helped the nearby tribals to benefit from the harvest. His not-for-profit organization called 'Turning Tide' has planted over 1,000 trees and also gives guidance to rooftop gardening. “It would be helpful if we could produce a small fraction of the food we consume,” Remedios said.

Uttarakhand: City Forest In Jhajhra to Open from Navaratri

'Anand Van' - the city forest at Jhajhra, developed by the forest department, was inaugurated on September 22 by Uttarakhand CM Trivendra Singh Rawat. The conservation project has an intent to showcase the state's flora and fauna heritage, and will be shortly open to visitors. Reportedly, the forest was completed in 3.5 years at a cost of Rs 43 lakh. Similar theme-based parks are under construction in Rishikesk and Haldwani.
