SC Refuses Urgent Hearing Of Karnataka Hijab Row

The  Apex Court refused to give a specific date for the 'Karnataka Hijab Row' petition, after petitioners demanded urgent hearing, on March 24. The SC bench led by CJI NV Ramana said not to sensationalise the matter, as the Hijab issue has nothing to do with exams.  Notably, petitioners cited exams and requested for urgent hearing, as the school authority has banned hijab in the school premises.

CJI NV Ramana & SC Judges Visit Mughal Gardens On President's Invite

CJI Justice NV Ramana, his wife and other Supreme Court (SC) judges, on February 19, visited Mughal Garden, Rashtrapati Bhavan, in Delhi. The CJI and judges with their families were invited by President Ram Nath Kovind and first lady Savita Kovind. During the event at Rashtrapati Bhavan, CJI NV Ramana also presented the annual report to the President of India.

SC Refuses Urgent Hearing On Hijab Row Issue Challenging Karnataka HC

The Supreme Court, on February 11, refused an "urgent hearing" on Karnataka Hijab row. On February 10, the three panel HC bench issued an interim order, restraining students from wearing religious attire until matter resolved and adjourned to February 14. Challenging the order, students filed a petition. However, CJI NV Ramana said, "Don't spread these things to a national level. We will interfere only at an appropriate time".

SC Forms Committee, Orders Probe In PM Modi's Security Lapse Issue

The Supreme Court reviewed PM Modi's security breach issue on January 10. During the hearing over recent security lapses on PM Modi's Punjab visit, the SC bench, led by CJI NV Ramana, agreed for a probe and ordered to form a Court-monitored independent committee, headed by former SC Judge to probe the issue. In addition, the Court also asked Central and State Government to dismiss their respective investigations.

SC To Review PM Modi Security Breach Matter On Jan 10

Supreme Court is going to hear the PM Modi Security Breach, plea on January 10. CJI NV Ramana, Justices Surya Kant and Hima Kohli will review the matter, filed by Lawyer's organisation, over security lapse during PM Modi's Punjab visit. In the last hearing, the Apex Court ordered the registrar of Haryana and Punjab HC to submit records of PM Modi's visit and ordered to halt investigation in the matter.

CJI NV Ramana Visits His Native Village, Rides Bullock Cart: Andhra Pradesh

CJI NV Ramana visited his native village in Krishna district, Andhra Pradesh on December 24. This is Ramana's first visit to AP, after swearing in as the CJI. On his arrival, Justice Ramana received a warm welcome and rode a bullock cart to his native Ponnavaram village. Meanwhile, the AP Government has organised several events including "high-tea" in his honour. Notably, Justice Ramana is on a three-day visit to AP.
