CJI NV Raman Recommends Justice Uday Umesh Lalit As Next CJI
Chief Justice of India NV Ramana recommended the name of his successor to the concerned authority. In a letter dated August 4, addressed to the Union Government CJI Ramana named senior most Supreme Court Justice Uday Umesh Lalit. The development came after Union Justice & Law Minister Kiren Rijiju asked CJI Ramana to name his successor. Notably, CJI Ramana is retiring from his position on August 26.

India Needs Judiciary 'That Can Deliver Easy & Speedy Justice', Says PM Modi
PM Modi addressed the inauguration of the 11th joint conference of Chief Ministers and Chief Justices, on April 30. During his speech, he said that upon India's completion of 100 years of Independence in 2047, the Judiciary of the country must be capable of fulfilling the growing aspirations of the country. He said that India needs a Judicial system "that can deliver easy justice, speedy justice and justice for all".

CJI Ramana Visits Golden Temple With Family On Baisakhi: Amritsar
Chief Justice of India NV Ramana with his family, visited the Golden Temple in Amritsar, on April 14. Marking the occasion of Baisakhi, Ramana said, "My good wishes for Baisakhi. I am very happy today, my lifetime dream came true as my family members and I reached the Golden Temple. I thank the managing committee". After the Golden Temple, CJI Ramana also visited the BSF museum and the Attari-Wagah Border.
