Harish Rawat, the AICC chief of Punjab, has made it clear on August 25 that the 2022 Punjab elections will be "fought" under the leadership of CM Captain Amarinder Singh. Rawat's announcement has come after several Punjab Congress leaders demanded to remove Singh as he is "not suitable for the party and the state". Milkha Singh To Be Cremated With State Honours

Milkha Singh who passed away in the early hours of June 19 will be cremated in Chandigarh on the same day at 5 pm, stated a family spokesperson. The last rites of the "Flying Sikh" will be performed with state honours. He is survived by his son and three daughters. Punjab Chief Minister Amrinder Singh paid his condolences through Twitter saying that "India and Punjab are poorer today".
