Ahead of Punjab Assembly elections, CM Charanjit Singh Channi and Shubh Deep Singh have been booked for violating MCC. The Congress leaders were campaigning after the deadline of 6 pm, in Mansa district, following which AAP's Vijay Singhla filed a complaint. Rahul Gandhi To Announce Punjab CM Candidate On Feb 6: Assembly Polls
Former President of the Indian National Congress Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to announce Chief Ministerial candidate for Punjab. Navjot Singh Sidhu and Charanjit Singh Channi are likely options for the CM face. The final announcement is to be made, on February 6 during Awaz Punjab di, virtual rally at 2 pm, from Ludhiana. Meanwhile, Punjab Assembly elections are scheduled on February 20.

Punjab CM To Build Memorial For Farmers Died In Protests
Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi on November 19 said that the state government has decided to build a memorial for the farmers who lost their lives during the farmers' protests. The development came after Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced to repeal the three farm laws. Mr. Singh also demanded that the Centre should give compensation to the state for financial and property losses during the Kisan Morcha.

Punjab Govt Reduces VAT By Rs 10 On Petrol & Rs 5 On Diesel
Punjab Government on November 7 gave a big relief to its people by decreasing the Value Added Tax by Rs 10 on petrol and Rs 5 on diesel. The prices will come into effect from tonight. The petrol and diesel are currently being sold at Rs 106.20 and Rs 89.83 per litre in Punjab respectively. ''Petrol in Punjab has become cheapest in the region,'' said CM Charanjit Singh Channi.
