Kerala Govt Passes Resolution, Urges Center To Rename State

The Kerala Government passed a resolution in the Assembly session, urging the BJP-led Government to rename the South Indian state as Keralam. On August 9, Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan moved the resolution, which was passed unanimously with the support of the Congress-led UDF opposition. The request to rename the state as Keralam was taken under Article 3 of the Indian constitution. The Central Government is yet to respond,

Free Internet Connection To 100 BPL Families By May: Kerala CM

Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan will be providing free internet to 100 BPL families in every assembly constituency by May 2022. Kerala Fiber Optic Network will provide high-speed internet for free to 20 lakh BPL families at affordable rates. "Of the 30,000 government offices, 3,019 have been given connectivity," CM said. Installation of wire of 2045 km has been completed out of 2600 km and 3000-5000 offices are added every month.

Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan Leaves For Medical Treatment To US

Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan left for medical treatment to United States of America for about two weeks, on January 15. He boarded the flight from Cochin International Airport, accompanied by his wife T Kamala and personal assistant VM Suresh. CM will return to the state on January 29, and till then he will attend the cabinet meetings online. Pinarayi has briefed his US trip to state Governor Arif Mohammad Khan.

Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan Condemns 2 Political Murders, Assures Strict Action

UAE Govt To Set Up 4 Food Parks In India

UAE's Minister of Foreign Trade Dr. Thani Ahmed Al Zeyoudi said that his country will build a food park in Kerala, informed Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on December 16. ''The UAE government plans to open three food parks in India. We requested that one of them should be in Kerala,'' said CM Vijayan. Besides, the CM accepted the invitation of Zeyoudi to visit the Dubai Expo in February 2022.

Kerala To Provide Financial Aid To Children Orphaned By COVID

Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan on May 27 announced a financial aid for the children who lost their parents due to COVID-19. The CM said that the state will provide Rs 3 lakh at once and then Rs 2,000 every month to the children until they turn 18. Besides, the government will finance the children's education "up to the degree level". He stated, "We need to take care of the children".

Padma Bhushan Bishop Philipose Mar Chrysostom Passes Away At 103

India's one of the oldest bishop, Dr Philpose Mar Chrysostom, passed away at the age of 103 in the wee hours of May 5. Addressed as 'chiriyude pithavu' (father of wit and wisdom), Chrysostom was conferred the Padma Bhushan in 2017. Famous for his witty speeches, the bishop had announced his retirement in 2010.
