India's Coal Production Rises By 8.55%; 777.23 MT Produced In 2021-22

India's coal production has increased by 8.55%, reported ANI. In the financial year 2021-22, India produced 777.23 Million Tonnes (MT) of coal, compared to 716 MT in 2020-21. Coal India Limited's production has gone up by 4.43%. Singareni Collieries Company Limited reported a hike of 28.55% in production. Coal production of captive mines went up by 29.47%. Coal Crisis
No Shortage Of Coal For Electricity Production, Says ​​​​​​​Coal Minister

Amid alarming low levels of domestic coal availability in India, the Central Government on October 13 again assured that there will be no shortage of coal for electricity production. Union Coal and Mines Minister Pralhad Joshi said that the government is working to mitigate the current coal crisis. He also stated that the coal production has been increased from 1.9 million tonnes to 2 million tonnes per day.

Coal Shortage In India Will Normalise In 3-4 Days, Says Govt

Amid the ongoing shortage of coal in several Indian states, Union Coal Minister Pralhad Joshi said the crisis will start normalising in the next three-four days on October 9. Reportedly, a sudden demand for ''electricity due to revival of economy and heavy rain in coal mine areas during September'' led to a crisis. Besides, China, the largest coal consumer followed by India is also facing a shortage.
