Australia Court Overturns Indian-Origin Teen's Climate Change Case

An appeals court, on March 15, overturned a groundbreaking ruling that Australia’s environment minister had a duty to protect younger people against climate change. However, the teenagers could still take the case to the highest court of Australia. Notably, eight Australian teenagers took to the court in 2020 to control the expansion of a Vickery coal mine in the state of New South Wales.

Ministry Of Coal Receives 26 Bids For 11 Coal Mines In Auction

The 11 coal mines which were put for sale under the fourth tranche of auction received 26 bids, said Ministry of Coal, on March 2. The bids will soon be evaluated and shortlisted by a multi-disciplinary Technical Evaluation Committee. The ministry further stated that the qualified bidders will take part in the electronic auction which will be conducted on MSTC portal, on March 24.
