In Sri Lanka's captial city of Colombo, President Gotabaya Rajapaksa fled his residence as protestors surrounded his house. Meanwhile, Sri Lankan police fired tear gas shells to control the mob. Reportedly, some protestors wielding Sri Lankan flags and helmets broke into Gotabaya Rajapaksa's residence. At least 21 people including two police officials were injured in the incident, reported Reuters.

After the Sri Lankan Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa resigned, the island went under curfew on May 9. Furthermore, protestors attacked the Rajapaksa family home in Hambantota and aflame memory built of the President and PM's parents. Sri Lanka's oldest and first airport has opened for international flights, from March 27. The Ratmalana airport was set for domestic flights after the Bandaranaike International Airport (Katunayake) was commissioned in the '60s. Sri Lanka won the second T-20 International against India on July 28. Sri Lanka chased down 133 runs in 19.4 overs. Dhananjay De Silva scored “unbeaten 40” and was regarded as the man of the match. The seventh-wicket partnership between De Silva and Chamika Karunaratne secured 28 runs helping Sri Lanka to reach their target score. Besides, Sri Lanka and India stand at 1-1.

India wins the second ODI against SL by three wickets. Deepak Chahar scored 69 runs when India was five-wicket down for just 160 runs. Also, a gritty fifty from Suryakumar Yadav helped India chase down the target in 49.1 overs. Earlier, Charith Asalanka and Avishka Fernando both hit half-centuries as SL posted 275 against India in Colombo. This is India's ninth ODI consecutive series win against the SL.
