PM Narendra Modi  said he was pained by the loss of lives in the train derailment in Bihar's Buxar district and extended his condolences to the bereaved families.He said authorities are providing all possible assistance to all those affected. In the tragic train derailment incident, at least four people were killed and several injured after 23 coaches of the North East Express, on the way to Assam from Delhi, derailed.

PM Narendra Modi expressed condolences to Sonia Gandhi, upon hearing about the demise of his mother Paola Maino, on August 31. "Condolences to Sonia Gandhi Ji on the passing away of her mother, Mrs. Paola Maino. May her soul rest in peace. In this hour of grief, my thoughts are with the entire family." tweeted PM Modi. Meanwhile, Sonia Gandhi flew to Italy on August 23, to meet her mother.

Bihar CM Nitish Kumar expressed condolence to the victims of Bhagalpur explosion, held on the night of March 3. A total of seven people lost lives and several were injured, after a massive explosion was reported near Yatimkahana in Kajvalichak region in Bhagalpur, Bihar. The district authority said, the explosion was caused due to firecracker making in the building. Earlier, PM Modi also expressed grief over the incident.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 13 took to Twitter to condole the death of veteran BJP MLA Harnbans Kapoor. He was 75 and died at his residence in Dehradun. Kapoor was an eight-time MLA from the Dehradun constituency and one of the seniormost members of the State Assembly. ''A veteran legislator and administrator, he'll be remembered for his contributions to public service and social welfare,'' tweeted PM Modi.
