When asked about why he wasn't at Red Fort for the Independence Day celebration, Kharge said, "He couldn't attend the function at Red Fort due to security reasons. It takes two hours to reach the venue and he couldn't leave earlier."

Sonia Gandhi's Mother Passes Away In Italy, Confirms Jairam Ramesh
Congress President Sonia Gandhi's mother passed away in Italy. Paola Maino, Gandhi's mother died at her residence in Italy on August 27 and her last rites were done on the same day, the August 30. Notably, the Congress president had left on August 23 to visit her ailing mother, who was in her 90s. The news was confirmed by Congress leader Jairam Ramesh on August 31.
