Waiting Period Of 6 Months Not Mandatory For Divorce, Says SC
As a relief to couples seeking divorce need not to wait for months, as the Supreme Court (SC) announced in a verdict. On May 1, the Top Court said, now waiting for six-months for divorce is not mandatory anymore. The decision was taken under Section 13 of the Hindu Marriage Act 1955. However, as per sources, the waving off of this six-month duration is applicable to consent divorce cases.
