11.88 Crore Unutilized Covid-19 Vaccine Doses Available In India, Says Health Ministry

As per the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, more than 11.88 crore balance and unutilized COVID-19 vaccine doses are still available with States and Union Territories. "More than 171.48 crore vaccine doses have been provided to states and UTs, so far through Government of India and through direct state procurement category," stated the Ministry. Notably, The COVID-19 vaccination drive in India started on January 16, 2021.

No Booster Shots Needed For Tourists In Hawaii

Recently on February 8, state governor Ige announced no COVID-19 booster shots mandatory for travelers as a part of its Safe Travels program in Hawaii. "In making this decision, we considered declining COVID-19 case counts," the official statement stated. In Maui and Honolulu, travelers will have to show a negative RT-PCR COVID-19 test. Meanwhile, Lt. Gov. Josh Green said Hawaii may look to end the program by the spring.

India Reports Decline In COVID-19 Cases With 71,365 New Cases

India reported decline in COVID-19 cases for the second consecutive day with 71,365 fresh cases. In addition, the Union Health Ministry confirmed 1,217 deaths and 1,72,11 recoveries in the past 24 hours. India Logs 83,876 New Covid-19 Cases With 895 Deaths In Last 24 Hours

India on February 7, reported 83,876 new cases of COVID-19, 1,99,054 recoveries, and 895 deaths in the last 24 hours, which is 22% lower than February 6. While the active caseload in India is at 11,08,938, the current recovery rate in the country stands at 96.19%. However, Maharashtra, Kerala, and Karnataka registered the maximum number of cases. India Logs 3.37 Lakh New COVID-19 Cases; Daily Positivity Rate Stands At 17.22%

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, on January 22, said that India reported 3,37,704 new COVID-19 cases, 2,42,679 recoveries and 488 deaths in the last 24 hours, which is 9,550 cases less than January 21. India's Omicron tally has climbed to 10,050. Notably, the daily positivity rate in the country stands at 17.22%. Natural Immunity Overpowered Vaccines During Delta Wave In USA: Study

People who were unvaccinated but survived COVID-19 were better protected than those who were vaccinated and not previously infected, suggested a Study. The analysis was also carried out during the Delta variant infection among 1 million people, who tested positive in New York and California, between May 30 to November 30, 2021. The unvaccinated people are at higher risk compared to vaccinated people, said the authors of the research.

Mizoram Logs 984 New COVID-19 Cases; Positivity Rate Stands At 15.08%

The state health department on January 20, said that Mizoram reported 984 new COVID-19 cases, no fatalities and no recoveries in the last 24 hours. The current positivity rate in the state stands at 15.08%.
