India Reports 50,407 New Covid-19 Cases With 804 Deaths

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, on February 12, confirmed 54,407 new COVID-19 cases in India. Besides, 1,36,962 recoveries, and 804 deaths were also reported in 24 hours. While the active caseload in India is at 6,10,443. Notably, the current recovery rate in the country stands at 97.37% and the daily positivity rate at 3.48%. Moreover, as of now, India has administered 172.29 crore vaccine doses to people.

WHO Plans to Deliver 120 Million Rapid Virus Tests to 133 Poorer Countries

World Health Organisation, on September 28, announced its plan to procure 120 million rapid tests for COVID-19, to distribute across 133 poorer countries. The tests which are estimated to cost $5 each are not as efficient as PCR tests but will be cost and time effective. WHO plans to distribute it to low and middle-income countries and opined that this will enable to close the gap in testing between them and high-income countries.
