Cipla's Real-Time COVID Testing Kit ViraGen To Hit Market On May 25
Drugmaker Cipla has announced that its real-time COVID-19 testing kit 'ViraGen' will be available in the market from May 25. "This will help address the current testing services and capacity issues," said Cipla. The ICMR-approved RT-PCR kit has been developed to increase the COVID testing rate across the country. The kit can detect coronavirus with the sensitivity of 98.6% and the specificity of 98.8% on ICMR's standard scale.

Bharat Biotech's Covaxin Trials On Kids Likely To Begin In June
Bharat Biotech on May 23 stated it would begin trials of its COVID-19 vaccine Covaxin on children from June. "Kids vaccine trials of Bharat Biotech may get the license in third quarter of this year," stated an official of the company. Besides, the vaccine-maker is also eyeing to increase Covaxin manufacturing capacity to 700Mn doses by 2021 end as "the government placed an advanced purchase order of Rs 1,500 crore".

Spain: COVID State Of Emergency Comes To End As Situation Improves
After almost seven months, the authorities in Spain revoked the state of emergency declared due to COVID-19. The emergency was declared in October 2020 and it gave the government right to impose restrictions such as night curfew or banning the travel. "We're getting a bit of normality back, of freedom, but we have to keep in mind that the virus is still around," stated a citizen in Barcelona.

K'taka Minister Claims 3,000 COVID Infected People Missing In B'luru
Karnataka Revenue Minister R Ashoka on April 28 claimed that about 3,000 COVID-19 infected people are missing in Bengaluru. He said that these people have switched off their cell phones by not revealing their whereabouts and spreading the disease. While the police are tracking them, he appealed them to switch on mobile phones. Ashoka urged them to reach out to avoid ending up at hospital ICU at the neck moment.

Union Min Babul Supriyo Tests COVID Positive, Not To Cast Vote In Asansol
Union Minister Babul Supriyo on April 25, through Twitter, announced that he and his wife have tested COVID-19 positive. Notably, the minister has tested positive for the second time. Expressing displeasure over missing the opportunity to vote in West Bengal Assembly elections on April 26, Supriyo tweeted, "V Sad that I won't be able to vote in Asansol." He added that he would be right by the BJP candidates "mentally".

COVID-19: BMC To Set Up Three Jumbo Field Hospitals In Mumbai
Mumbai BMC on April 12 announced the plan of setting up three jumbo field hospitals in the next five to six weeks in-order to handle increased COVID-19 cases. The jumbo fields, with 2,000-bed capacity, each will serve in three locations. Reportedly, Four-star and five-star hotels will be used as COVID Care Centres. However, Nodal officers will be appointed to monitor ward rooms and jumbo field hospitals.

Swiggy To Bear COVID Vaccination Cost For 2 Lakh Delivery Partners
Swiggy will bear the cost of COVID-19 vaccination for its nearly two lakh delivery partners.
