Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray on July 30, held a marathon meeting with elected representatives and district administration to review the COVID- 19 situation, in Pune. In the first review meeting, Thackeray urged the administration to work on changing the scenario and bringing things under control within three weeks. To strictly look into this matter, he appointed Saurabh Rao as the single point contact for all COVID -19 related work.

The septuagenarian died of breathlessness on June 29 before testing for COVID-19. His sudden death forced family to rent out refrigerator and store his body, after the doctors denied to issue a death certificate without COVID-19 test result. "They continuously tried to contact the health department but none responded. However, on July 1 the department finally called up and set the process in motion," said a family member to PTI.
