Jharkhand Government To Give Rs 50,000 Ex-Gratia To Kins Of Covid-19 Deceased

Jharkhand Health and Disaster Management Minister Banna Gupta on December 8, announced of giving Rs 50,000 ex-gratia from the State Disaster Management Department Fund to the families of those who died of Covid-19. Speaking to ANI, Gupta said, "Jharkhand government will give Rs 50,000 ex-gratia to the kin of persons who died of Covid-19 in the state." Notably, a total of 5,141 people have died of Covid-19 in the state.

India Reports 10,229 COVID-19 Cases; Active Cases Lowest In 17 Months

The Ministry of Health on November 15 reported that India recorded 10,229 new COVID-19 cases, 125 deaths, and 11,926 recoveries in the last 24 hours. The active cases stand at 1,34,096 which is said to be the lowest in 17 months. The daily positivity rate was recorded at 1.12% which is below 2% for the last 42 days. Reportedly, India conducted 9,15,198 tests in the past 24 hours.

MP Govt Announces Rs 1 Lakh For Kin Of COVID Victims During 2nd Wave

The Madhya Pradesh government on May 20 announced that families of those who died during second COVID-19 wave will be given an ex-gratia of Rs 1 lakh. Reportedly, the state has recorded over 3,500 coronavirus fatalities since March 2021. Earlier, the government had promised monthly aid of Rs 5,000 to children who became orphan during the pandemic, along with free ration, education and interest-free loans to guardians of those children.

Delhi HC Rejects Plea Seeking Ban On COVID Death News For Being Negative

The Delhi HC on May 3 dismissed a plea seeking to restrain the COVID-19 death news for being negative. The HC said, informing the public about COVID-19 deaths is not negative and as long as the news is correct there will be no restrictions. Warning the petitioner of imposing fine on him, the court observed no violation in such news and said the petition was not more than a PIL.

Jail Authorities Requests Centre To Release Prisoners Amid COVID-19 Death

Citing four deaths at Tihar jail due to COVID-19, the authorities have requested the Delhi government to allow the release of prisoners over parole. Reacting on the request, the officials have intended to decongest the jail as over 20,000 inmates i.e almost double the official capacity are currently lodged. However, several petitions among the city jails have been filed for the release of prisoners, accused of non-heinous crimes.

Relatives Vandalise ICU Ward After Woman Dies Of COVID-19

The Ahmedabad Police has arrested three men for allegedly vandalizing COVID-19 ICU ward of a civil hospital. Reportedly, the men committed the violence after their relative 45-year-old Reena Yadav died on April 12 due to COVID-19 complications. They allegedly chased the medical staff with sticks and broke the equipment. As per the police, the men even tried to set the ward on fire after breaking the spirit bottles.
