India Reports 12,213 New Covid-19 Cases & 11 Deaths

India reported a huge increase in daily Covid-19 cases, with 12,213 infections and 11 fatalities reported, bringing the overall death toll to 5,24,803 on June 16. There are currently 58,215 active cases. On June 16, India also reported 7,624 recoveries, bringing the overall number of recoveries to 4,26,74,712. According to the Health Ministry, daily positivity rate was 2.35 percent and weekly positivity rate was 2.38 percent.

India Reports 6,561 New COVID-19 Cases In 24 Hrs

India records a slight surge in COVID-19 cases with 6,561 new cases and 142 deaths within the last 24 hours by 8 AM on March 3, confirmed the Union Health Ministry.  As per MoHFW data, India has 0.18 % active rate, 98.62% recovery rate, the ministry said. The number of vaccines administered in India reached 178 crores, said the Union Health ministry.

AIIMS Cancels Doctors' Winter Vacation Amid COVID-19 Surge

In a notice on January 4, the All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) cancelled winter vacation of doctors. The decision was taken amid the rising number of COVID-19 and its variant Omicron cases in India. "It is to inform that the Competent Authority has decided to cancel the remaining part of the winter vacation from 5th to 10th January due to ongoing COVID-19 and Omicron pandemic," read the notice.

Pune Postpones Reopening Of Schools Till Dec 15; Omicron Scare

Amidst the spread of the new variant of Covid-19, Omicron, reopening of schools in Pune has been postponed till December 15. Furthermore, the Pune Municipal Corporation stated that the final decision on the matter will be taken after reviewing the situation. Besides, the omicron variant was first reported in Botswana on November 11, and later in South Africa on November 14.

Malaysia Reports 6,517 New COVID-19 Cases, 41 Deaths

Malaysia reported 6,517 new Coronavirus cases with 41 deaths in the last 24 hours. According to reports, sixteen COVID-19 cases are imported with 6,501 being locally transmitted said the ministry of Malaysia, with the total number of cases recorded to be 2,535,338 in the country. Active cases are reported to be 64,277, among which 543 have been admitted to the ICU, and 268 are in need of ventilators.

India Reports 14,306 New Cases, 443 Deaths In 24 Hours

India reported 14,306 new cases, 443 deaths and 18,762 recoveries in the last 24 hours, with an active caseload of 1,67,694. Reports suggest that the recovery rate is higher than the beginning of the pandemic and is currently at 98.18 percent. Moreover, the daily positivity rate stands at 1.43 percent, which has become lower, says one of the reports issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare Department.

New Zealand Records 106 Fresh Covid-19 Cases

The New Zealand's Health Ministry on October 23 said the country recorded 106 fresh coronavirus cases. Out of 106 cases, 104 were reported to be community cases from North and South Island, while the remaining two were imported cases. However, Blenheim reported its first positive case on October 23 this year. Notably, 5,194 covid-19 cases have been reported in New Zealand since the beginning of the pandemic.
