Covid-19 Test

According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, India reported 2,487 fresh Covid-19 infections, 2,878 recoveries, in the last 24 hours. Furthermore, 4,05,158 tests were conducted in 24 hours. A slight dip in the cases was found as it was 2,858 on May 13. The active caseload in India stands at 17,692. Daily positivity rate stands at 0.61%, weekly positivity rate at 0.62% and recovery rate at 98.74%.

According to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare India registered 3,545 new COVID-19 cases, 27 deaths, and 3,549 recoveries in the past 24 hours. With this, the active cases tally reduced to 19,68, with approximately 83.98  crore COVID-19 tests.  Amid the surge, the positivity rate is below 5% and the recovery rate is 98.74%.  Furthermore, the weekly positivity rate stands at 0.79%. 

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has granted EUA to the first-ever Covid-19 breath test. The InspectIR Covid-19 Breathalyzer can produce results in less than three minutes. The device can separate and identify chemical mixtures, and detect five compounds associated with Sars-CoV2 infection in the exhaled breath of a person. The diagnostic test has more than 90% accuracy in identifying both positive and negative samples.

International passengers arriving in Kerala needs to follow a set of new guidelines, issued by the Kerala Health Department. NRIs and international travelers arriving in Kerala with COVID-19 symptoms, will be required to undertake an RT-PCR test. The airline officers will select the passengers. To control the spread of COVID-19, all the educational institutions in Uttar Pardesh will remain closed till January 30. However, classes will continue through online-mode, official said. The government had earlier ordered to shut schools, colleges till January 23, but the order has now been extended, as there are currently 95,866 active COVID-19 cases in the state. Notably, the cumulative death toll stood at 23,022.
