Covid-19 Test

In the past 24 hours, 1,116 new COVID-19 cases have been reported in Bangladesh, taking the overall tally to 1,592,209, with most cases recorded in Dhaka. Around 154 people recovered, while 19,275 samples were tested across the country, for a positivity rate of 5.79 percent. As per figures, the recovery rate is 97.39 percent, and the mortality rate is 1.76 percent.

Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) leader and a Maharastra Legislative Council Pravin Darekar has tested positive for COVID-19, on January 5. Besides, three Shiv Sena leaders including Urban development minister Eknath Shinde were also tested COVID-19 positive earlier. Shinde was tested positive for second time since last year. The leaders have urged all those, who came in their contact, to undergo COVID-19 test.

To prevent COVID-19 third-wave from spreading, and to stop the Omicron to enter valley, coaching centers in Kashmir have decided to go for vaccination of students. The decision was taken in a joint meeting of Coaching centers & Private schools association J&K, under the chairmanship of Chief Medical Officer, Srinagar, Dr.Jameel. In the meeting, it was decided that mass vaccination will cover the age group from 15 to 18 years.

India reported 9,216 new Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours, taking its total tally to 3,46,15,757. The active cases in the country as reported by the Union Health Ministry stand at 99,976. Kamal Haasan, the president of Makkal Needhi Maiam and an actor, said on November 22 that he had tested positive with COVID-19 and had been hospitalized. Earlier Hasan was on a trip to the United States to meet his supporter. "I had mild cough following my return from the USA. When I tested, the coronavirus infection was confirmed. I have isolated myself in hospital, said Hasan.
