The Drugs Controller General of India granted Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) of two doses of ZyCoV-D, a COVID-19 vaccine for children above 12 years old. Manufactured by Zydus Lifesciences limited, the vaccine was used in three doses, for 0,28, and 56 days. However, with the recent approval, ZyCoV-D would now be used in two doses, with a gap of 0-28 days. With this, vaccination time required will be reduced.

Ahead of the nationwide booster dose COVID-19 vaccination drives, the SII CEO Adar Poonawalla slashed the prices of Covishield from Rs 600 to Rs 225.  On April 9, Poonawalla tweeted, "SII has decided to revise the price of COVISHIELD vaccine for private hospitals from Rs.600 to Rs 225 per dose". People who got the booster jab claimed their taste buds have altered, claimed research. Notably, the symptoms were not only experienced by certain age groups but even by healthy people. The shot reportedly tasted like "nickels" and remained the same for a few days. However, experts explained that if a person experiences metallic symptoms immediately after getting the jab, it is normal and there is nothing to worry.

The Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML), deboards 30,000 passengers daily for not being vaccinated against COVID-19. The public transport only plies passengers carrying a double-vaccination certificate. “While giving them a ticket, conductors ask the passengers to show their vaccination certificates. Central Government cleared two more vaccine against COVID-19, for emergency use, on December 28. The decision taken during a high-level meeting was welcomed by manufacturers of the two vaccines; CORBEVAX and COVOVAX and an antiviral drug. Notably, CORBEVAX, manufactured by Biological E. Limited passed two Phase III clinical trials on over 3,000 subjects of 18-80 year-old. The company is to begin 100+ million doses from February 2022.
