31 Students Test COVID-19 Positive In Tamil Nadu Government School; School Temporarily Closed

Praveen Jayawickrama, Sri Lanka's left-arm spinner, tested positive for Covid-19 prior to the second Test match against Australia, which is set to begin on July 8. Obama Tests Positive For COVID, Encourages Others To Get Vaccine Doses
Former US President Barack Obama has been tested positive for the COVID-19. On March 13, he tweeted, “I’ve had a scratchy throat for a couple of days, but am feeling fine otherwise". Obama also encouraged others to get vaccinated even if the infections have decreased to more than 35,000 in number than last month. Notably, Barak Obama's wife Michelle Obama tested negative for COVID-19.

India Logs 5,476 New COVID-19 Cases, 158 Deaths In Last 24 Hours
India reported 5,476 new COVID-19 cases, on March 6. The Union Health Ministry has confirmed 9,754 recoveries and 158 deaths in the last 24 hours. While the active caseload stands at 59,442, taking the total caseload to 4,29,62,953. Furthermore, the current recovery rate in the country stands at 98.66%. However, IIT Kanpur has predicted fourth wave Covid-19 in June. Moreover, as of now, India has administered 178.83 crore vaccine doses.

Andhra Pradesh Registers 4,570 New COVID-19 Cases
At least 4,570 fresh COVID-19 cases have been recorded in Andhra Pradesh in last 24 hours, taking overall percentage to 15%. In addition, 669 COVID-19 patients recovered, & one died in 24 hours. 42 Staff Members Of Srinagar Medical College Test COVID-19 Positive
Amid spike in COVID-19 cases, 42 doctors and paramedics of the Government Medical College Srinagar tested COVID-19 positive taking tally there to 249 in 15 days. According to officials, a majority of staff are isolated. Principal of the Medical College has however said that hospital will continue to run as normal on January 17, as authorities decided to keep all the hospitals under its control for patient-care.

COVID-19: 12 Municipal Employees In Sopore Kashmir Test COVID-19 Positive
Amid rise in COVID-19 cases and Omicron concern, 12 employees of Municipal Council in Kashmir's Sopore have tested positive, following which they have been asked to self-isolate. Officials said that the preventive measures were being taken by the authorities even as rest of the employees have been asked to go for testing. Notably, 184 persons were tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 48 hours in Sopore town of Kashmir.
