J&K Orders Weekend Lockdown Amid Rise In COVID-19 Cases
Amid rise in COVID-19 cases, the government of Jammu and Kashmir on January 15, announced that there will be complete restrictions on non-essential movements during weekends in the entire union territory. State executive committee issued an order, on the same. The order reads, "Night curfew shall continue to remain in force in all districts from 9 pm to 6 am with complete restriction on non-essential movement".

State Of Emergency Declared In New York: Spike In Covid-19 Cases
Owing to the spike in new Coronavirus infections, New York Governor Kathy Hochul has declared a state of emergency till January 15, 2022, on the evening of November 26. ''New York is now experiencing COVID-19 transmission at rates the state hasn't seen since April 2020,'' read the executive order. The measure will boost the vaccination efforts and will increase hospital capacity in the state, reported UNI.

India Records 4 Lakh Fresh COVID Cases, Highest Single-Day Spike Globally
India on April 30 registered four lakh fresh COVID-19 cases, which is the highest single-day spike globally. The rise in cases crossed another lakh in just nine days, as India had smashed the three-lakh cases mark on April 21. As per Worldometers.info, 69,36,034 lakh cases were registered in the country in April 2021, which again is the highest recorded by any country in any month so far.
