India Records 2,541 New COVID Cases & 30 Deaths In 24 Hours: COVID-19 Update

India has reported 2,541 new cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, taking the total active case load to 16,522, on April 25. Also, 30 new fatalities have been recorded in the last 24 hours, taking the total death toll in the country to 5,22,223. The daily positivity rate stands at 0.84% and weekly positivity rate at 0.54%. Notably, India has administered over 187.71 cumulative doses of COVID-19 vaccine.

India Records 22,431 Fresh COVID Cases; 24 Hour Report

The Indian Council Of Medical Research stated that over 14,31,819 tests were conducted on October 6. As per data from Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, in the last 24 hours, India recorded 22,431 fresh cases, 24,602 recoveries and 318 deaths. Reportedly, Over 92,63,68,608 people have been vaccinated as of October 7. Also, about 57,86,57,484 tests have been conducted so far.

Centre Revises COVID-19 Testing Rules; No Test For Hospital Discharge

J&K Leader Farooq Abdullah Moved To Hospital Days After Testing Covid-19 Positive

Former J&K Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah, who was recently tested positive for Covid-19, was moved to a hospital in Srinagar on his doctor's advice. The National Conference leader was under home isolation for a week and now he has been hospitalised for better care and monitoring. Abdullah had also received his first Covid vaccine jab in early March while the second vaccine shot was due.

Assam To Halt COVID-19 Testing at Railway Stations, Airports

The Assam Government on February 10 announced the halt of COVID-19 testings at railway stations and airports from March 1. Taking to Twitter,  Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that the decision had been taken as the cases have shown a steep decline and the "vaccination being in full swing." However, he has requested people to follow  "COVID appropriate behaviour." Notably, the mortality rate in Assam is at 0.50%.
